Homemade Pita Chips Tzatziki (Printable)

Crunchy pita chips with creamy tzatziki dip—a refreshing, easy Mediterranean snack ideal for summer gatherings.

# Ingredient List:

→ Pita Chips

01 - 4 large pita breads
02 - 3 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 1 teaspoon sea salt
04 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
05 - 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

→ Tzatziki

06 - 1 cup Greek yogurt (full-fat or low-fat)
07 - 1/2 large cucumber, grated and excess water squeezed out
08 - 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
09 - 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
10 - 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
11 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice
12 - 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
13 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

# Steps:

01 - Set oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to fully preheat.
02 - Slice each pita bread into 8 even triangles.
03 - Lay pita triangles in a single layer on a baking sheet. Using a pastry brush, coat both sides of each triangle with olive oil.
04 - Sprinkle sea salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika over the pita triangles.
05 - Bake for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp. Remove and allow to cool.
06 - Combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Stir thoroughly.
07 - Cover and refrigerate tzatziki mixture for at least 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
08 - Arrange pita chips on a platter and serve with chilled tzatziki on the side.

# Tips from the Pros:

01 -
  • The secret is really in how the herbs make the yogurt sing—no boring dips here.
  • It’s ridiculously easy, but feels fancy enough for a crowd or just an afternoon treat for yourself.
02 -
  • If you skip squeezing the cucumber, your tzatziki turns soupy and loses its lovely texture—trust me, I learned the hard way.
  • Over-baking will make pita chips taste burnt, so check them early and often; don’t walk away during the last few minutes.
03 -
  • Let the pita chips cool fully before storing or they’ll go soft—patience pays off.
  • Fresh dill adds brightness; dried works, but use half as much or it can overpower.
